The Books and Articles Who Inspire

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

This will be a living blog where I share books and articles that have inspired me. Many of these are foundational to Effective Growth Strategy and the Growth Strategy Playbook.

For some of them, I will do full blog summaries which I will include links to when they are available.

With that said, here we go:

Grassroots Strategy: Cultivating B2B Growth from the Ground Up by Jeff Bennett and Darrin Fleming

This has become my go-to book for everything strategic marketing. It does not hurt that my favorite professor from Business School, Dr. Stewart Bither, has worked closely with Jeff and Darrin and is mentioned in the book. From Opportunity & Market Definition to Business Model, they take you through the whole process. To buy click on the image of the book or this Amazon link

Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business by Gino Wickman

While the approach is largely based on Verne Harnish's Mastering the Rockefeller Habits," Gino's approach to implementing those habits that he shares in Traction has created a movement. EOS is perhaps the biggest trend I see in small businesses, and I am using these concepts to help me with my business. To buy click on the image of the book or this Amazon link

Escaping The Build Trap by Melissa Perri

In the book Melissa talks about how companies have created and gotten stuck in the momentum- and measurement-based “build trap,” where they continue to crank out features primarily to meet schedules and objectives, rather than focusing on building the right things by the needs of the market.
